We’ve had another exceptional year at 91首发 School, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything our incredible students have accomplished.
From collaborating with Barratt Homes to design inclusive playgrounds, to being rated 鈥極utstanding鈥 in all areas by Ofsted, and taking part in a range of inspiring MOVE events, this year has been full of achievements that truly reflect the spirit of our school.
At the heart of 91首发 are our amazing students, passionate staff, and a supportive community of parents and carers. Together, we continue to aim high and achieve great things.
A huge well done to everyone for making this year so memorable. Enjoy a well-deserved summer break 鈥 I look forward to welcoming you all back in September!

Hays Travel’s Fundraising Efforts
The wonderful team at Hays Travel Killingworth completed a series of fundraising events to raise money towards our sensory room.
From arranging charity coach trips to Edinburgh, York and Whitby, they raised amazing 拢1,455.55. The Hays Travel Foundation then matched this amount, meaning in total they have achieved an incredible 拢2911.10听for our sensory room!
Creating Inclusive Playgrounds With Barratt Homes
A group of our learners collaborated with housebuilder Barratt Homes to improve accessibility and ensure their playground developments better meet the needs of all children.
The project began with site visits to two existing playgrounds, where students evaluated the spaces and identified opportunities for improvement. They then confidently presented their findings and recommendations to the Barratt team, leaving a lasting impact on the way future play spaces are designed.
Teddy on BBC One’s Call the Midwife
Teddy, one of our remarkable learners, is a superstar in his own right 鈥 so it was no surprise to see him light up our screens this year!
He took on the role of Andrew Trotman in BBC One鈥檚 Call the Midwife and absolutely shone. Teddy had a fantastic experience working alongside the cast and being part of such a well-loved and high-profile production.
Dance Classes
We hosted a series of dance classes, designed to encourage freedom of expression and movement.

Ofsted Rated Us ‘Outstanding’ in All Areas
We received the remarkable news that Ofsted rated us ‘Outstanding’ in all areas following a recent inspection.
The report stated that “The school team work tirelessly to ensure that any barriers to learning are overcome. Timely therapeutic care supports pupils to access their education. This enables pupils to achieve exceptionally well. Pupils are highly motivated and enthusiastic learners.鈥
MOVE Events
The MOVE programme is an activity-based framework designed to help young people with disabilities gain independent movement skills, such as sitting, standing, walking, and transitioning.
Our MOVE events are highlights in the school calendar, engaging our learners in brilliant activities and healthy team competition. We’ve enjoyed a variety of themed events this year, including Winter, Easter and Summer!
Our New Library
We recently unveiled our brand new library which has been designed to go beyond traditional bookshelves. It features a wide range of books, sensory elements, comfortable seating, communication boards, and quiet zones, making it a truly inclusive environment where every learner can feel at home.
Our pupils are already enjoying the space, and we look forward to every class making the most of it when the new term begins in September!
Summer Fayre
Our Friends of 91首发 School Summer Fayre was an absolute hit.
Our trade and information stalls included the community police, Northumbria Blood Bikes, Usborne Books, and a variety of arts and crafts, selling everything from beads to animated fairy light jars. Attendees were also spoilt for choice with BBQ food, face painting, games, cotton candy and popcorn and a Ciccarelli gelato ice cream van.
We raised an incredible聽拢1453.89 for the Friends of 91首发 School, which wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic support of everyone who came along and joined in the fun.

Students and staff enjoyed a wide range of activities, from learning the art of Brazilian capoeira and painting vibrant mandalas, to taking part in a colourful march around the school yard.
