How Tyne Tunnels’ Donations are Making an Impact
Tyne Tunnels' operator TT2 have made some generous donations over the years that have made a real impact on our pupils.
As part of their community project programme, have worked closely with the 91首发 Foundation to assess how their donations could enhance the lives of our learners.
Firstly, TT2 funded the creation of a new sustainable shed at Northern Counties to enhance our Forest School.
The shed allows for indoor/outdoor learning, meaning that pupils can engage in hands-on Forest School activities whatever the weather.
Each pupil at Northern Counties engages with the Forest School at least once a week, meaning that the shed is consistently enjoyed by our learners to partake in activities such as wood whittling and carving.
Then, TT2 unveiled a new sensory tunnel. The sensory tunnel, based on a bespoke replica of the Tyne Tunnel, provides a calming sensory environment to aid students when they become dysregulated. The installation was crafted to enhance visual, auditory, and tactile processing, alongside boosting both fine and gross motor abilities.
The sensory tunnel is a tranquil space for learners to feel relaxed and immerse themselves in a variety of sensory experiences.
Both installations have enhanced the learning experience for our learners at Northern Counties, ensuring each day is filled with new opportunities to discover and take part in.
TT2 staff recently made a visit to see first-hand the impact that their donations have had.
